Fans’ thumbs up to appointment

Reporter: Some of your comments on Dave Penney’s appointment

CHANGE is as good as a rest.

I just want commitment, grit and determination — win or lose, happy to fork out for that.

If we happen to play attractive footy along the way that’s a bonus.

If I wanted to watch beautiful football I wouldn’t have been a Latics fan all my life.

It’s in the blood, come rain or shine!

Penney . . . cracking move. Just hope our lot gives this one a fair chance!

ALL things being equal he sounds as though he is the man for the job. Discard the jumping ship red herring. Your firm is in administration and someone offers you a good job. What would you do? Yes, I thought so! So would I!

I think the board have done their homework here and deserve credit.

Don’t know much about Dave Penney but from what I have just read I think we should all get behind him and give him our full support.

VERY happy with this decision. Penney is used to no money. A passionate man, good with fans and a good promotion record.

Darlo would have been in the play-offs had they not gone into administration. Let’s hope we sell the 4,500 tickets to give him a decent budget for next year.

I’VE been looking at the Darlington Fans message boards and they are generally of positive comments regarding Penney. I reckon it’s a good shout by the owners.

BEST of luck Joe for whatever you may decide to go and do.

Say what you want, he was our manager when we had those glory years — and for that he will always be a Latics Legend.
