NEW Athletic manager Dave Penney has returned to former-club Darlington to make his first signing.
Versatile Rob Purdie, who played in six different positions for Darlington, has agreed a two-year contract.
Purdie (26) kicked off his career at home-city Leicester and also had five seasons at Hereford before joining Darlington in the summer of 2007.
