ATHLETIC have today made a major U-turn in re-signing club captain Sean Gregan.
The 35-year-old central defender was released at the end of the season, thought to be the club's top earner, and one of several to leave Boundary Park.
Now manager Dave Penney has decided to take the experienced Gregan back on a one-year deal.
When Gregan was released Penney paid tribute to the player's professionalism but said he wanted to put his own stamp on the team and was looking for young, hungry, fit and athletic players.
Six weeks later Gregan is back in the fold as Penney's search to strengthen the squad ahead of getting back into training next week goes on.
