LATICS fans celebrate their win
IT MAY only be July but Athletic have already picked up their first piece of silverware.
Their supporters have won the plate at a national fans’ tournament at Preston. They defeated Tranmere Rovers 1-0 in the semi-final and Grimsby Town 3-1 in the final. Earlier they lost to Manchester United and drew against Huddersfield and Grimsby. Captain and central defender Mark Greenwood, goalkeeper Brian Lord and striker Kevin Duggan all stood out. Managing the supporters for the first time was Wayne Hurst who is better known as club mascot Chaddy The Owl.
