HARD-WORKING striker Pawel Abbott has been named Athletic’s player of the month for August.
The award, which is again sponsored by Spindles Town Square Shopping Centre, saw Abbott pip Sean Gregan and Andy Holdsworth.
Manager Dave Penney is delighted with the way in which Abbott has settled following his summer transfer from Darlington.
Penney said: “Pawel has been excellent with his link-up play which is something I am told has been missing from this club.
“He has also scored three goals and all this while playing with a hernia problem which looks as though it will eventually need an operation.”
The Athletic players have once again decided to donate their winnings to charity.
This season, the benficiary will be KidsCan, a local children’s cancer charity.
