Festive fillip for fans

ATHLETIC have provided fans with a pre-Christmas tonic by heavily reducing admission for the forthcoming home match against Exeter City.

The club hopes that memories of recent disappointing attendances can be blown away as a result of the festive treat.

The game, which takes place on Saturday, December 12, will cost adults only £2 for admission and £1 for under-16s and over-65s.

Not only that, but all fans attending the game will pick up a discount voucher, worth up to £10, to be spent in the club shop.

It is a similar one-off gesture to that made by Athletic two years ago for fixtures against Brighton and Northampton, which attracted attendance figures of 9,321 and 10,207 respectively.

“We know how tough it is financially at the moment," said Athletic sales and marketing manager Guy Walker.

"With Christmas coming up the finances tend to get even more critical, so by offering these incredibly-low admission prices we hope that the fans come along to support the team.

“If we can get similar numbers for the Exeter game that we had two years ago that would bey brilliant.

“The team have been struggling but if we can get the crowd behind them it can make all the difference."

No tickets need to be purchased in advance and fans can simply turn up and pay at the turnstiles on the day.

The exception is the upper section of the Pentagon Vauxhall Main Stand, which remains reserved seating.

These tickets can be purchased from the ticket office at the same low prices.
