Sheehan to stay on at Swindon

FORMER Athletic loan star Alan Sheehan has extended his spell at Swindon Town until the end of the season.

The Leeds United left-back — who still tops the assists charts for Athletic, with three — played nine games for Dave Penney in a two-month stay, scoring once in the 2-1 home win over MK Dons.

Sheehan returned to Elland Road in the build-up to Leeds’ FA Cup tie at Boundary Park, with Athletic opting not to extend the deal to a third and final month due to taking on his parent club twice in a three-and-a-half week period.

Another player staying on at Swindon is 18-year-old Bolton Wanderers striker Danny Ward, who now remains with the Robins until February 3.

STOCKPORT County star Carl Baker is set for a move to Championship side Coventry later this month.

The midfielder and prized asset could be sold to help ease the financial pressure on the stricken club, who remain in administration.

MK DONS have been charged with failing to control their players in last month’s 1-0 defeat at Huddersfield Town, following a melee in the closing stages.

Dons boss Paul Ince faces a separate charge of improper conduct relating to the same game.
