Pawel Abbott: team player
Boundary park roundup: WHEN Lewis Guy appeared from the start at Edgeley Park on Tuesday, he became Pawel Abbott’s NINTH strike partner so far this season.
The top-scoring former Huddersfield Town and Swansea City forward has played alongside Keigan Parker, Chris O’Grady, Nick Blackman, Ryan Brooke, Deane Smalley, Jason Price, Daniel Nardiello, Tom Eaves and on-loan Doncaster Rovers forward Guy as Athletic have toiled for goals.
And Abbott would have hit the 10 mark had the club been able to extend a loan deal with Paul Heffernan into the New Year.
Abbott currently has 11 goals for the season, while none of the above players have more than two to their name.
DANIEL Jones, who was on loan with Athletic from Wolves last season, has signed a deal with Bristol Rovers to stay at the club until the end of the season.
Jones is likely to line up against Athletic when Rovers visit Boundary Park on Saturday, April 10.
Chance to meet Latics legends
Latics legends Andy Ritchie, Ian Marshall and Paul Warhurst are star guests at a special fund-raising evening for Shaw Cricket Club.
The question and answer night is being organised by former Athletic striker Matthew Tipton, who plays for Shaw in the Saddleworth Cricket League.
Tickets for the event at Shaw CC on Thursday, April 22 (7.30pm) cost only £10 (including curry supper) and are on sale at the Springvale Inn, Chadderton, or The Phoenix Cobblers, 1 Milnrow Road, Shaw.
