LATICS ROUND UP:

LEE Clark has pipped Dave Penney to the League One manager of the month award.

The Huddersfield Town boss got the nod for the third time this season following an April which brought with it 15 points from a possible 18.

Only a defeat at Brentford stopped Huddersfield from gaining maximum points from their six matches.

Athletic boss Penney managed three wins and three draws from seven matches played during a month in which the club secured a place in League One for next season.

The other managers Clark beat to the award were Southampton's Alan Pardew and Wycombe boss Gary Waddock.

Kalala is a yellow peril

FORMER Athletic midfielder JP Kalala picked up his 14th booking of the season against his former employers on Saturday.

Added to his one red card, it leaves the Congo battler with the worst disciplinary record in the division.

Sean Gregan picked up his 10th booking of the season in the same match — referee Jarnail Singh’s last in the professional game — but will not be suspended for two games as the bookings deadline has now passed.

Eyres back in Boundary Park action

DAVID Eyres has been spanned up to play for Athletic’s staff team in Monday’s match against fans at Boundary Park.

The club legend will take his place in a side also featuring ex-Athletic men Tony Philliskirk and Lee Duxbury, while staff manager Sean Gregan can also call on managing director Simon Corney and board member Mike Newton.

Macclesfield's former Athletic striker Matthew Tipton is in charge of the fans’ team for a game which starts at 7pm (free admission).
