PAUL Dickov was casting his eye over his new charges today as Athletic kicked off their preparations for the start of the new League One campaign.
The Boundary Park boss, who replaced Dave Penney earlier this month, was putting his players through their paces on the first day back of pre-season training at the Lancaster Club.
Dickov said: “The first day is a bit different from 15 to 20 years ago when all everyone did was run hard all day.
“Sessions will be structured for different needs. It’s also a chance for players to get to know each other again after the break.
“Those who are coming back from injury will be doing bits and pieces to ease them back in.”
Former Arsenal and Manchester City striker Dickov was involved in the session, but he was also keen to have a close look at the players from the sidelines.
