TEAM TALK: AS a management team, we have watched a DVD of the Scunthorpe game again and it turns out we played better than we first thought.

There were a lot of positives to take out of the game, though there were also a couple of mistakes that led to their goals — especially with the first one.

In that aspect we let ourselves down, but on the whole the performance, again, was superb.

Every man gave it his all, which is all we can ask for.

In the second half, at times, they just couldn't get the ball off us. You have to remember that they are a side playing in the Championship, so that is a big compliment to our players.

Djeny Bembo-Leta, or 'DJ' as we call him, was in the team because he has done well in pre-season.

He is only a young lad, but he showed a great little bit of movement to get on the end of a terrific ball in from Kieran Lee and took his goal very well.

It will give him a big boost of confidence and it is a good start to your career by scoring on your debut.

I haven't had too much time to work with the defensive partnership that played at Glanford Park and Jean-Yves Mvoto, whom we have signed on loan from Sunderland, showed that he is a little bit naive at times.

He hasn't come up against a Championship side before, even though he played on loan at League One level with Southend last season.

Again, it is a big learning curve for him and his task is to pick things up very, very quickly. This isn't European-style football and you don't get a lot of time on the ball.

When he got to grips with that idea he did well, so he has just got to simplify his game a bit more. If he can do so, he will succeed for us.

On to this weekend, the players realise there is a lot of pressure on them to do well in front of our fans in the first home game of the season.

After a good performance and result at Tranmere, we have to carry that on against Notts County — a team who will very much be up for the fixture after being beaten 3-0 at home by Huddersfield.

It isn't an easy game, but I am sure the lads will be up for it and we will aim to give the fans something more to cheer about.
