Self belief is so important

IF you had offered our first goal against Notts County to any manager in the country, they would have been delighted with it.
From start to finish, there were 14 passes before Dean Furman scored.
That a goal so good came so early in the season was perhaps a bit of a surprise.
But we are working with the players day-in and day-out. That means you can see first-hand the quality many of them have on the ball.
The main thing is, though, that they have to believe in their ability themselves.
When I or Paul Dickov tell them how good they can be, it is not just idle talk — we absolutely mean every word.
And with that first goal at Boundary Park on Saturday, they showed what is possible. We were all taken aback watching on the match DVD at how good a goal it actually was.
Overall, at 3-0 it was a great result for the lads as a second successive win in the league.
In all honesty, I didn’t think we were all that impressive in the first half.
The second-half performance was very good, but there is clearly still room for improvement and we made sure the lads understood exactly what it is we are looking for from them.
