Millar’s chance to shine
Date published: 07 September 2010
OLDHAM’s Kirk Millar, who (contrary to some reports) did not score for Northern Ireland’s under-21s against San Marino, is again in the squad for his country’s final European Championship qualifier in Germany tonight.
A late call-up last week, the 18-year-old winger will hope to again get his chance as Steve Beaglehole’s men bid to claim a victory which would take them above reigning champions Germany and into third in the final group standings.
“It is a big test for Kirk and can only do him good,” said Athletic chief executive Alan Hardy. “It is recognition for the club and for (youth team manager) Tony Philliskirk.”
