Latics target awards

ATHLETIC are crossing their fingers for a double awards boost this week.
Player-manager Paul Dickov has been shortlisted for npower League One’s manager of the month gong for August, along with Gary Johnson of Peterborough, Sheffield Wednesday’s Alan Irvine and Carlisle boss Greg Abbott.
Under the guidance of Dickov, Athletic went through the month unbeaten in the league with defeats of Tranmere and Notts County and draws with Charlton and Yeovil.
Athletic midfielder Dean Furman, who has already claimed the club’s own award for his efforts, is shortlisted for the player of the month.
