I’m nearing my goal — Feeney

WARREN FEENEY . . . confidence.
WARREN Feeney claims a burst of goal-scoring form is just around the corner.
As he prepares to face his old club Bournemouth tomorrow, the Northern Ireland international is the first to admit he needs a run of matches in order to fire on all cylinders.
And after a tireless display in the 5-2 loss at Peterborough, Feeney feels he is reaching peak condition.
He said: “The Athletic fans have not seen the best of me yet. I’ve missed a couple of matches because I have been away with Northern Ireland.
“But I felt good in the last game and I know I am getting back to where I want to be.
“The goals will follow. Like any striker once I get one, I will go on a run.”
Feeney spent three years with The Cherries after joining from Leeds following a successful loan spell.
He scored 36 goals in 108 appearances before a £45,000 switch to Stockport County, which angered the Dean Court faithful.
“I was just a kid when I was at Bournemouth, but I played some good football and scored a lot of goals,” said Feeney.
“The fans were angry because they think I left the club too soon.
“I might get some stick tomorrow, but I do my talking on the pitch - I have scored against them before with Stockport and Swansea. “I still love it down in Bournemouth. I had a great time at the club.”
Feeney believes Athletic can get back to winning ways at Boundary Park tomorrow despite the visitors’ strong start to the npower League One campaign.
