SEAN Gregan is facing a race against time to be fit for Athletic’s clash with Leyton Orient on Saturday.

The skipper, sidelined by a knee injury, is yet to return to training, which means Jason Jarrett is likely to replace the suspended Reuben Hazell at the heart of the defence.

Hazell serves a one-match ban after picking up his fifth yellow card of the campaign in the midweek stalemate at Sheffield Wednesday.

Athletic have fresh concerns over the fitness of forward Warren Feeney, who has sat out the last two games after hurting his ankle against Bournemouth.

The Northern Ireland international is set to have a scan in a bid to get to the bottom of the problem.

Chief Executive Alan Hardy said: “Warren has not recovered as quickly as we expected.

“He is struggling at the moment so he will have a scan to assess how bad the injury is.”

In Feeney’s absence, in-form Chris Taylor will probably continue in his roaming role behind target man Oumare Tounkara, unless manager Paul Dickov plumps for out-and-out striker Dean Kelly.

Dickov himself is also returning to full fitness after a string of niggling injuries.

Season ticket holders at Boundary Park can choose one of three home matches to take a friend along for £5.

The offer applies to the visit of Orient on Saturday, Colchester United on October 16 or Exeter City on November 23.

Hardy added: “The ‘bring a friend’ scheme is something season ticket holders were made aware of at the start of the campaign, and now we have identified the three matches from which they can choose.

“The vouchers, which are inside the season ticket book, must be exchanged for a match ticket at the main ticket office.” This can be done on the day of the match, but preferably in advance.
