Dickov to eradicate errors

ATHLETIC manager Paul Dickov selects from a squad which is without three players on international duty for tomorrow’s Brentford clash.

Warren Feeney is in action tonight at Windsor Park, where he faces Italy for Northern Ireland in a Euro 2012 qualifier, a game being watched by Athletic assistant manager Gerry Taggart.

And Kirk Millar and Rodrigue Dikaba are both otherwise engaged overseas, a situation which could have led to Dickov calling off the npower League One clash.

Instead, the manager wants to get the mistakes of last week’s 1-1 draw with Leyton Orient out of his and the squad’s system.

“We have got players here who can come in and do well and after the disappointment of last Saturday, the thing you need is a game,” said Dickov, who welcomes back Reuben Hazell from his one-match ban.

“The lads have trained ever so well this week and we all want a game as quick as we can to rectify what went wrong.”

Cedric Evina, who signed earlier this week on a month’s loan from Arsenal, goes straight into the squad and could feature at Griffin Park.

Brentford boss Andy Scott hopes his side can produce a better display than the one which saw them progress on penalties to the area quarter-finals of the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy on Tuesday night.

Leyton Orient were beaten 5-4 on penalties, but Scott wants better.

“That was the most horrific game I have been involved in,” said the Bees boss. “The quality was terrible. We are fortunate to go through.”

Dickov is back in the squad but there is no place for either Sean Gregan or Joe Jacobson.
