LATICS have signed Portuguese striker Filipe Morais on a non-contract basis in a busy afternoon of activity.

As Morais, who has been on trial at the club and scored in the Reserves' midweek win at Acrrington Stanley, was being welcomed, two others were heading for loan spells away from Boundary Park.

Rob Purdie, the midfielder who was Dave Penney's first signing but endured an injury nightmare while here, has joined former club Hereford United on a three-month loan.

And teenage central defender Rod mcDonald has gone on a month's loan to Stafford Rangers.

Morais, 25 next month, was on Chelsea's books as a youth player and played 13 games while on loan at  Milton Keynes Dons in 2006 and another 12 after moving to Millwall.

A loan spell at St Johnstone followed and he then settled north of the border playing for Hibs, Inverness Caledonian Thistle and a second-spell at St Johnstone where in total he yielded seven goals in 85 games in Scotland.

He was released at the end of last season and is now a free agent.
