Raring to go!

AIDAN White can’t wait to get back playing again.

The fleet-footed left-back or left winger has spent most of this season kicking his heels at Leeds United.

The England under-19s international made his last appearance for the Elland Road side back in mid-September and Leeds boss Simon Grayson sanctioned the move in order to get further experience under the player’s belt.

After signing a loan deal with Athletic which runs until January 3, White goes straight into manager Paul Dickov’s 21-man squad which travelled south today ahead of the npower League One clash at Dagenham.

“It has been a bit frustrating as I have been involved with the first-team squad on a number of occasions this season but have only played three times,” said White, who trained and played alongside Dickov at Leeds last season.

“It is good to get out on loan and hopefully get games under my belt.

“I know the manager from his time at Leeds and he is a great person and someone I am really looking forward to working with.

“He gave his all on the pitch and I know his team will play in the same way.

“We have got a game in hand and if we were to win that we would shoot up the table.

“I can’t wait to get started.”

The exact nature of the role he will play at Victoria Road tomorrow is currently unclear, with Paul Black and Cedric Evina currently taking up the two spots on the left-hand side of the Athletic line-up.

“I am not quite sure (on a position) yet and will need to sit down with the manager on that,” added White. “But I am quite happy to play wherever.”

White, who has a deal at Leeds running until 2012, is the fourth loan player on Athletic’s books.

The others are Jean-Yves Mvoto and Oumare Tounkara — both on season-long deals from Sunderland — and Cedric Evina, whose loan spell from Arsenal expires in early January.

The maximum number of loan players allowed in an

18-man matchday squad is five under Football League rules.

Athletic must do without banned duo Filipe Morais and Dean Furman tomorrow.

Dickov believes that the loss of the latter player from central midfield provides a good opportunity for someone else to step into the role and impress.

“The way we play, pressing the ball, Dean is a trigger for us,” Dickov said.

“But we can’t play him — there is no point moaning about it — and it gives someone else a chance.”

Warren Feeney has recovered from his back injury to make a squad which includes scholars Carl Winchester, Andrew Crompton and Ryan Burns.
