ATHLETIC full-back Joe Jacobson has left the club to join Accrington Stanley on loan until January 3.

The 24-year-old has been on the transfer list since before the season started and has made only one first-team appearance, off the substitutes' bench, under manager Paul Dickov.

Jacobson now joins Stanley for the second time in his career and is likely to make his debut in tomorrow night's FA Cup second-round tie at Port Vale.

The former Wales under-21 international, who has been troubled by injuries throughout his career at Boundary Park, had a similar spell with Accrington in 2006-07 while at Bristol Rovers.

MEANWHILE Neal Trotman has rejoined Athletic on a one-month loan.

The powerful centre-back, currently on the transfer list at npower Championship side Preston, will stay at Boundary Park until January 3, to provide competition for places with current duo Reuben Hazell and Jean-Yves Mvoto.

Since signing for North End, the 23-year-old has had spells on loan at Colchester, Southampton and Huddersfield, helping the latter side to the play-offs in League One last season.

Trotman joined Preston from Athletic for a fee of £500,000 a little under under three years ago.
