Winger could be on Dickov’s Christmas shopping list
ATHLETIC have been linked with a move for free-agent winger Andy Robinson.
The 31-year-old had his contract at npower Championship club Leeds United cancelled last week and is on the hunt for a new employer.
Manager Paul Dickov is looking to bring in at least one new wide player, with Chris Taylor now impressing in a central role up front and Filipe Morais still on non-contract terms.
Robinson has had a tough time at Leeds since arriving at Elland Road two years ago and last season spent the final two months of the campaign on loan at his home-town club Tranmere Rovers.
But he has been a top performer at League One level in the past, mainly with Swansea City where he made just under 200 appearances, scoring 43 goals.
Robinson enjoyed great success while at the Swans, helping the club he captained to two promotions on their way up to the Championship under manager Roberto Martinez.
The issue of Robinson’s wage demands could threaten any possible deal, though.
Dickov has already stated that while he would be happy to keep his squad as it is, if he could bring in one or two new players it could serve to send out "a statement to the whole league" as to Athletic's intentions this season.
THE Oldham Athletic Season Review: Part One DVD is now available from the club shop, priced at £9.99.
