Owen’s appeal to fans
Date published: 04 February 2011
TRUST Oldham chairman Barry Owen has sent out a passionate plea for more people to show up at Athletic’s home games.
Owen believes Paul Dickov’s men — fifth in npower League One — deserve more backing after just 3,056 fans turned out for the 4-0 win against Hartlepool in midweek.
“We are experiencing one of our best-ever spells on the pitch,” said Owen.
“It would be great to see people who stopped coming, or those who have not been before, to respond to the work Paul Dickov and the players are doing.
“The rejection of the stadium plans was a blow, but I honestly believe the future of Athletic will take care of itself. Let’s remain positive and see how far this team can go.”
