CHRIS Taylor leads the way in this season’s Chronicle “Star Man” stakes.
The 24-year-old, who has been used right across the midfield and as a support striker this season, has picked up a total of seven man-of-the-match nominations so far.
Which means Taylor — a player Scunthorpe and Blackpool were chasing before the transfer window shut recently — is one vote ahead of midfielder and main rival for the prize, Dean Furman.
The qualities of loan goalkeeper Ben Amos have seen the Manchester United man pick up three votes already, the second of which came from supporters in a special poll for the £2-entry Carlisle match at Boundary Park last week.
Last season’s winner, Sean Gregan, managed 11 nominations over the course of the season to claim the prize.
The current list reads: Chris Taylor (seven), Dean Furman (six), Oumare Tounkara and Kieran Lee (four each), Jean-Yves Mvoto (three), Ben Amos* (three) Dale Stephens, Ritchie Jones, Paul Black, Dean Brill, Reuben Hazell, Neal Trotman, Cedric Evina, Sam Mantom (one each). Total matches played: 34
The ‘Chronicle Star Man’ is presented in association with award sponsors Indish Restaurant, Bar and Grill.
It is worth £600 to the winner, who will donate the prize to a charity of his choice.
