Tranmere victory for teenagers

CARL Winchester and Danny Gosset scored the goals for Athletic's youth team as they saw off Tranmere 2-0 in the Football League Youth Alliance.
Winchester, playing in midfield and getting another 45 minutes of action under his belt as he recovers from injury, claimed the only strike of a scrappy first half after a goalmouth scramble.
Both sides fielded teams mainly made up of under-17s and it was Gosset, who falls into that category, who doubled Athletic's lead at Chapel Road thanks to a superb finish with his weaker left foot.
The victory made up for a 4-2 home loss two days earlier to Rochdale.
Athletic, featuring many players who had turned out for the team on the previous Saturday as well as in a reserves clash two days later, put in a weary performance and scored both goals through Andrew Crompton.
