Taggart’s grounds for concern

“WORSE than awful” is how Gerry Taggart describes the state of Notts County’s Meadow Lane pitch.
Athletic’s assistant boss reckons the bumpy playing surface, shared with Nottingham RU club, won’t help either side in an important npower League One tussle tomorrow.
The visitors will adjust their playing style to cope and hope that this will be enough to claim a win that would all-but banish relegation fears.
“It is a six-pointer again,” Taggart said. “We need to put daylight between ourselves and these teams near the bottom.
“We didn’t manage to do that on Monday (against Tranmere), but we have another opportunity here.
“One thing that won’t help us is the state of their pitch, which is awful to say the least. I am being kind saying that and I don’t think it helps them, to be honest.
“It won’t help our style of football and we will need to be clever in how we approach the game tactically.”
Notts County manager Paul Ince has recalled left-back Stephen Hunt from his loan spell at League Two side Lincoln City to cover for the suspended Jon Harley. Defender Carl Regan is an injury doubt for the Magpies.
