White out to shine at left-back

AIDAN White is happy to take to the field at left-back once again.

The on-loan Leeds United winger has been used as a wide player in midfield, both on the left and right flank, since first arriving at Boundary Park in November of last year.

In the last two games, though, injuries to Paul Black and then Cedric Evina have seen the 19-year-old taking up a more defensive role once again.

And he was pleased with his solid efforts in starting on the left side of a back four for the first time in an Athletic shirt during the 2-0 win at Swindon.

"It is fine with me," said White. "I have been playing at left-back since I was in the under-12s and have mixed in between there and playing wide in midfield.

"So I am comfortable with it and have enjoyed it. I thought I did okay against Swindon so I am happy with it.

"Our overall effort at Swindon was very good, thankfully. We put on a good performance up until the last 20 minutes, after we had scored our second goal.

"We went a bit sloppy then and didn't do the same things that we had done to put us two goals in front."

White also paid tribute to two-goal hero Chris Taylor, who now has 11 strikes this season — his best tally for a season in his career.

"They were great goals," added White. "He is bragging that he is Oldham's top scorer this season now ahead of Dale Stephens and he is over the moon with it."
