Strength in numbers sought by Trust

TRUST Oldham is seeking new faces and fresh ideas.

A host of membership offers have been brought together in order to try to stimulate a recruitment drive which, it is hoped, will help invigorate the organisation.

The message being put out is that fans CAN make a difference in terms of helping the club to progress, with the hope being that fresh blood can bring with it new avenues of beneficial expertise.

"The Trust is bigger than just one person," explained Trust spokesperson Richard Attwood.

"Everything we do is for the benefit of the club. We want to improve communications and get past the apathy.

"We have come up with new ideas but we want more voices and people who can help the club in any way, from accounts through to marketing.

"Fans can also do their bit by supporting our events. And giving us time can be more important to us than money."

Since gaining a three-per-cent stake in the club six-and-a-half years ago, Trust Oldham has contributed an average of £1,000 per month to the club.

And one of the major innovations the Trust has led the way with in recent times is PlayerShare, which illustrated its value through the signing — and subsequent sale — of left-back Cedric Evina.

The scheme helped to pay the wages of the ex-Arsenal star, who signed a permanent deal in January. And when he elected not to sign a new contract at Boundary Park for family reasons, Athletic

benefited from a five-figure compensation fee for his move to Charlton that would not have found its way into club coffers but for the help of money from PlayerShare.

"The Cedric move shows how every fan can help with PlayerShare, first by contributing to the wages of the player and in this case help the club earn much-needed revenue," said Attwood.

NEW Trust Oldham members for this season will enjoy a range of benefits in exchange for a season-long subscription at a cost of £5.
These include 20-per-cent off food bills at Milan Bar and Restaurant in Lees, a similar 10-per-cent offer at the Junction Inn on Ripponden Road, a 10-per-cent reduction on all activities run by Oldham Athletic Community Trust and a reduced membership fee at OCL Sports Centres. All these discounts become available on production of a new membership card.
