Long trek to opening game

A HARDY group of Athletic fans are taking part in a sponsored walk from Bramall Lane to Boundary Park for the first home game of the 2011-12 season.
The aim is to raise money for the PlayerShare scheme and the walkers plan to set off from Sheffield at around 7.30pm on Friday, August 5, reaching Athletic's home in time for the big match.
The distance involved is 38.9 miles and stops are scheduled in addition to a support car and water supplies.
Every walker involved will be rewarded with a full English breakfast courtesy of The White Hart, Lydgate. For more information, email to oafclee@hotmail.co.uk
PENTAGON Saab has announced a sponsorship deal with Athletic for the 2011-12 season, providing two new Saab 9-3 SportWagons for the club's chief executive Alan Hardy and head of youth Tony Philliskirk.
