Parker pens Latics deal
Date published: 05 August 2011
STRIKER Josh Parker goes straight into the Athletic squad for tomorrow’s npower League One opener against Sheffield United after penning a one-year deal at Boundary Park.
Manager Paul Dickov secured the services of free agent Parker (20) a matter of minutes before today’s noon deadline in order to register him in time for the visit of the Blades.
The former Queens Park Rangers forward impressed the Scot during two summer trial spells, and he scored both goals in the reserves’ 2-0 victory at Ashton United in a midweek friendly.
His arrival comes just days after Athletic released Northern Ireland international Warren Feeney, who failed to net a single league goal during his time at the club.
Parker provides competition for fellow strikers Reuben Reid, Matt Smith and Ryan Brooke.
