Dickov: hungry for wins
It hurts so much when we don’t win — Dickov
PAUL Dickov admits he is a sore loser at the moment — but reckons his players have it within them to turn early-season misfortunes around.
Athletic have performed well only in patches during the first two games of the campaign, which have brought a 2-0 home defeat to Sheffield United in npower League One and a loss on penalties to Carlisle in the Carling Cup following a 1-1 draw after extra-time.
Up against a Yeovil side also searching for a first win of the campaign on Saturday, Dickov believes that picking up three points could spark further successes.
"The boys' confidence hasn't taken too much of a hit because it is only a week ago we were coming to the end of pre-season, where we had a run of good results," said the Athletic boss.
"But I am not stupid. I know we need to pick up a win quickly and I am sure we will, because I have confidence in my players.
"I want to win every game and it hurts me massively when we don't.
“I would like to think I am a winner and that my players are winners as well. It really hurts because I see the hard work that goes in during the week.
"Let's not forget, we started last season on fire and had a bad run.
“So the sooner we get a victory and get on a run again, we will be better for it."
