Morais seeking out pole position

FILIPE Morais wants to get back to tormenting his opponents.
The winger, who has had a quiet start to the season since returning from a suspension which saw him miss the opener against Sheffield United, feels that he and fellow winger Chris Taylor are not being equipped properly to take on full-backs by their team-mates at present.

As the side's main creators, the 25-year-old knows how vital it is to Athletic's fortunes that both wide men are involved in areas of the pitch where they can do damage with pace, trickery and crosses into the penalty area.

Said Morais: "I was saying on the coach (after Yeovil) to Chris, why am I not taking on players? Chris has done it in bits and pieces, more than I have.

"I want to take on players but I think I am getting the ball a bit too deep.

“I feel I need to get up the pitch and, in the final third, I can do that. It is something I am addressing. Taking on players is what I do best.

"It is frustrating for me and having seen the DVD of it, I am going to put it right."

Morais, an advocate of Twitter when it comes to communicating with supporters, suggests that the team may need to gel before the best results start coming through, particularly with a new duo in the team's midfield engine room.

"Matthew Lund and James Wesolowski have come into a new team," he added. "They need to figure out how we play and what the gaffer wants.

"It doesn't just happen overnight. It takes some adjusting to, but there is no doubting they are good players, which is the good thing.

"I know we will come good and I know we have not started yet. But we have to put it right sooner rather than later because you can't just keep on coming out with excuses."
