Trust sounds rallying call

TRUST Oldham are hosting an open meeting before the Stevenage game and are encouraging ALL supporters to attend.

The event is not just to explain PlayerShare, but also provides an opportunity to ask Trust chairman Barry Owen and others questions on club matters.

PlayerShare came to the fore last week when Athletic snapped up striker Shefki Kuqi. The scheme is believed to be contributing a third of the players' wages until the turn of the year, when the club will take over the total cost.

And more members are now needed, so PlayerShare can help manager Paul Dickov add to his squad as the campaign continues.

“We were asked to support Shefki’s wages until January and the figures involved meant that we were able to do this without over-committing the scheme or its members,” said a PlayerShare spokesperson.

“How we try to decide if such an appeal is workable is to take into consideration the balance of the scheme — if everyone stopped subscribing tomorrow, could PlayerShare still honour the agreement?

“PlayerShare is paying towards the player until January, when the club will take over his full wages.

“We then hope to be in a position to help with another player if needed.

“But after helping with Shefki, funds are limited. We need more subscribers.”

To find out more, fans can attend the meeting which takes place at The Junction on Ripponden Road, from 12.30pm. Food and a free bus to Boundary Park will be provided.
