FORMER Athletic captain Reuben Hazell could miss the rest of the season as a result of a serious knee injury.
The 33-year-old was challenged by Torquay’s Rene Howe during his new club Shrewsbury's 2-0 win on Saturday. Howe was sent off for his part in the incident.
Hazell said on Twitter: "It's bad news about my knee injury, several elements inside the knee are damaged and I will be lucky to play again this season. Gutted."
Hazell also went on the offensive against Howe, stating: "A fellow professional shouldn't act that way on a football pitch."
CHRIS Taylor has become the first Athletic footballer to reach 250 appearances since Lee Duxbury.
The 24-year-old winger reached the landmark against Brentford on Saturday, nine years after the current first-team coach managed it.
