PAUL Dickov believes his side face a tough test in the Northern area semi-final of the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy.
Athletic have been paired at home with npower League Two club Bradford City in the regionalised last-four of the competition, with the tie taking place on the week starting Monday, December 5.
“It will be a tough game,” said Dickov. “Bradford have put out Sheffield United, Huddersfield and Sheffield Wednesday so far. It will be a difficult tie for us.”
Athletic will find out their destination in the second round of the FA Cup on Tuesday, November 22.
Southend will take on Preston at Roots Hall on that evening in a replay to decide who plays host to Dickov’s side on the weekend of Saturday, December 3.
The Shrimpers of League Two held on for a goalless draw at Deepdale on Saturday.
