Talented Dean agrees contract

DEAN Bouzanis has signed for Athletic.

The Sydney-born goalkeeper (20), a free agent who spent four-and-a-half years with Liverpool, was on the bench at Bournemouth as cover for injured Paul Gerrard.

“Dean is a talented boy and he is here on non-contract terms at the moment,” said manager Paul Dickov, on a player who has appeared twice for Athletic’s reserves while on trial.

“Paul Gerrard has done well for us, but he is struggling with a pulled muscle in his arm. Dean gives us a little bit of cover.”

Athletic are hopeful that Chris Taylor’s injury suffered early on at Dean Court is not too serious.

“Chris felt his hamstring,” Dickov said. “It is not a pull or a tear, thankfully, but he has done the right thing. If he had stayed on, we could be looking at him being out for a lot longer.”
