League to reconsider artificial turf
Date published: 17 February 2012
As predicted in the Chronicle last night, the Football League has embarked on a public consultation on the use of artificial pitches.
At its meeting in Derby, league chief operating officer Andy Williamson said there was a "clear appetite" to reconsider the use of artificial surfaces.
Athletic officials, along with many others in Leagues One and Two, are backing the move towards artificial pitches, which would open up extra revenue streams.
A consultation period is now open to seek the views of clubs, supporters and officials.
Fans can read a 32-page consultation document and take part in a survey by visiting the league website, www.football-league.co.uk
