Dickov determined to build on away-day win
JUST three points separate Athletic from next opponents Bournemouth, but manager Paul Dickov isn’t getting carried away by visions of clambering up the npower League One ladder.
Only three times n an up-and-down season has the manager seen his side pick up back-to-back league victories.
Making it four — and arresting a run of three without a win at Boundary Park — is the clear target for Saturday, as Dickov pits his wits against ex-colleague and Cherries manager Lee Bradbury.
Athletic have games in hand on five of the six sides immediately above them in the table, right up to 10th-placed Bournemouth.
While top-six hopes were recently replaced by bottom-four fears, Dickov’s goal remains somewhere in-between.
“We want to finish as high as we can in the table and progress.
“I bang on about it all the time, but we are good enough to finish in the top half.”
Dickov is likely to stick with the same team which beat Hartlepool for this weekend’s clash, which is followed by another home game against Leyton Orient three days later.
