THUMBS UP: Chris Taylor all smiles after victory over Bournemouth.
GOAL hero Chris Taylor was delighted to end an “embarrassing” run of games without scoring by netting the winner against Bournemouth.
The 25-year-old winger had only previously registered once in the league all season before flicking home a low Kieran Lee cross.
Goals or not, manager Paul Dickov has been pleased with the effort put in by the home-grown player of late — despite comments by some fans.
“I know he has been getting a bit of stick at home, but away from home he has been brilliant,” said Dickov, who is hunting a third straight win in npower League One tomorrow at home to Leyton Orient.
While the Cherries decided to sack their manager Lee Bradbury yesterday, Athletic were able to tuck into a slice of luck.
Athletic welcomed back two familiar faces on Saturday: Robbie Simpson and new second-loan signing Oumare Tounkara.
“He has given the place a boost,” Dickov said of the returning Sunderland striker.
