MATCH PREVIEW: CONSECUTIVE wins on home turf will become a distinct possibility should Athletic replicate the quality and effort which saw off Leyton Orient earlier this season.
Despite being a goal down at half-time, the visitors to Brisbane Road were never out of the game against an O’s side who were struggling desperately at the time.
Goals from Shefki Kuqi, Reuben Reid and Matt Smith earned three points in a well-deserved 3-1 triumph in September.
“It was one of our best performances of the season, especially in the second half,” recalled manager Paul Dickov.
“We went on to score three really good goals and could possibly have had more.”
Orient have improved since then to haul themselves out of the npower League One danger zone. And though they have slumped of late, there is no question of Dickov taking the opposition lightly.
Athletic now target a third win in just over a week, following on from a pair of 1-0 victories — the latter gained thanks to Chris Taylor’s strike against Bournemouth.
Orient have lost four of their last five games, and have only one victory in their last eight.
