PAUSE FOR THOUGHT: Athletic boss Paul Dickov looks on as his Athletic team fail to deliver again.
ATHLETIC manager Paul Dickov paid tribute to victorious Leyton Orient — while also bemoaning a chance wasted by his side at Boundary Park last night.
Headers from Reuben Reid and Jean-Yves Mvoto, both well saved by visiting goalkeeper Paul Rachubka, were as close as the home side got to scoring as they passed up the chance to claim a third npower League One win in a row – and in doing so, missed out on moving into the top half of the table.
Athletic lacked craft throughout, even when up against an O’s side reduced to 10 men after Ryan Dickson was dismissed in the 86th minute.
“It was a very disappointing night and we are a lot better than that” said Dickov, whose side remian 14th.
“It is a big opportunity we have missed, it really is. But we have to go and win the game at Notts County (on Saturday) now.”
For that game Athletic may be without first-choice goalkeeper Alex Cisak.
The Tasmanian hurt a shoulder in an early collision with a post.
