Fans backing for Dickov

Date published: 05 April 2012

AN OVERWHELMING majority of Athletic’s fans appear to be fully behind manager Paul Dickov, despite the poor run of recent results.

94-per-cent of supporters on a www.owtb.co.uk message board poll believe the 39-year-old Scot is the best man for the role at present — even against a background of seven defeats in the last nine npower League One fixtures.

And that backing would continue in the unlikely scenario of the club getting relegated.

If Athletic’s slump was to continue and lead to the club starting life in League Two next term — a possibility rated as unlikely as a 50-1 bet by one online bookmaker — then Dickov’s approval rating remains at close to three out of every four fans 73-per-cent) to respond.

THE LATEST injury to hit Dickov’s plans looks set to keep Chris Taylor out of action for the remainder of the season.

The winger collapsed in pain at Griffin Park on Tuesday after a heavy tackle and will have a scan and further x-rays tomorrow, after it was confirmed he has not sustained a broken ankle.

Initial examinations have, though, revealed significant ligament damage. On crutches and wearing a protective boot, the 25-year-old will now have further checks to find out the exact scale of the damage.
