ATHLETIC have been left with a midfield hole to fill following Tom Adeyemi’s return to Norwich City.

The 20 year old’s loan expired following the defeat at Sheffield Wednesday on Monday.
The decision not to extend the arrangement — understood by the Chronicle to be a financial call on Athletic’s part — brings to an end Adeyemi’s seven-month stay.

With four games of the season remaining, manager Paul Dickov is likely to turn to Youssouf Mchangama as an engine-room partner for captain Dean Furman as he bids to guide the club to npower League One safety.

The Comoros Islands international has not featured from the start since Athletic’s 1-0 home defeat to Leyton Orient.

Meanwhile, Glenn Belezika has been backed as a future star by the man who has guided his rapid ascent.

Last summer, the 18-year-old centre-back was without a club. The only member of the group of second-year scholars to land a deal made his first-team debut as a late substitute against Wednesday.
