Forward’s Latics future uncertain
ROBBIE Simpson admits the question of where he plays his football next season has not been answered.

In netting his ninth Athletic goal, and a second in two games from a role on the left side of midfield, the 27-year-old played a large part in aiding the club’s successful late-term fight against relegation.

While offering his complete backing for manager Paul Dickov, though, Simpson is out of contract at the end of June and may look to play elsewhere in 2012-13.

“I haven't got a clue,” said the striker, in response to where his destination next term will be. I have played more games from the start than I have at any time in my career since I was at Cambridge United.

This season has been a very good one for me and a large part of that has been down to him (Dickov). I back him 100-per-cent, all the way. He has done a fantastic job. I think the club as a whole are trying to find that consistency, but I believe next year they will be pushing.”

Athletic signed Simpson permanently from Huddersfield earlier this year, having previously had the player on loan.

Chairman Simon Corney said the decision not to commit beyond the summer was the player’s, as a result of a desire to keep his options open.
