Could familiar names be heading for Latics exit door?
THE WIND of change set to sweep into Boundary Park this summer could lead to a number of high-profile departures from the playing staff.
Chris Taylor has already declared his desire to move on. and the same may be true of striker Robbie Simpson.
The forward is also out of contract in the summer and non-committal about staying.
The loss of key duo Zander Diamond and James Wesolowski for much of the season through injury will result in tough decisions being made when Athletic manager Paul Dickov and chairman Simon Corney meet to discuss future plans this week.
With a reduced budget, Athletic will have to decide whether players with poor fitness records are worth keeping — purely on the basis of money paid out in wages compared to time spent on the field.
Diamond and Wesolowski have missed a combined 46 matches this season.
In total, 18 first-team players are without contracts for next term.
