RIGHT BEHIND YOU: chairman Simon Corney (right) is certain Paul Dickov will improve Athletic’s fortunes.
SIMON Corney is giving manager Paul Dickov his full support to lead the club to better times.
Athletic’s chairman said he has learned the lesson of a hire and fire strategy — which has already seen four bosses come and go during his eight-years at the club.
Despite dissatisfaction with the way the current campaign has crumbled, Corney says Dickov remains the right man at the helm.
“I still maintain we have a very good manager, who will be here next year,” said Corney. “I have learned the lesson that you can be a little too trigger-happy when it comes to managers.
“We are happy with Paul. We both know things need to improve and I am certain we can do that.”
Corney wants to see football that will help to swell home crowds.
“We need to improve not only results and our points total, but entertainment,” he said.
