Small rise in league crowds
Date published: 10 May 2012
ATHLETIC’S attendances for league matches increased in 2011-12.
The average number of fans through the gate at Boundary Park finished on 4,432 — up on the previous season’s 4,392.
Strong away followings from both Sheffield clubs boosted the figures, as did the late-season ‘Golden Ticket’ promotion designed to swell crowds through discounted admission.
The best attendance at Boundary Park was the 8,032 who saw the opening game against Sheffield United, which Athletic lost 2-0.
