Dickov runs rule over Reeves ATHLETIC manager Paul Dickov has confirmed his interest in Altrincham striker Damien Reeves.

Described as a ‘true penalty-area poacher’, free agent Reeves (26) has plundered 44 goals in 42 league games for the Blue Square Bet North club this season - including three hat-tricks.

In one 25-game stretch, the former Leeds United trainee’s name was on the scoresheet every time the Robins found the net.

The player is believed to have already had a trial training spell with Athletic.

“We want to add to the squad and it doesn’t take a rocket scientist to work out the areas we are focusing on,” said Dickov, whose side failed to score in seven of their final 13 npower League One fixtures.

“He (Reeves) is one of a number of players we have looked. I look everywhere I can and would not be doing my job properly if I didn’t.”

Contact has also been made with other targets. Dickov added: “People tell me I can relax now, but that isn’t the case at all. The hard work starts here.”
