Latics keep up player search

ATHLETIC’S trail on Altrincham striker Damien Reeves appears to have run dry... at least for the time being.

Manager Paul Dickov has taken a close interest in the 26-year-old free agent, who scored 44 goals in 42 games for the Blue Square Bet North side this season.

His home-town club Doncaster are believed to be keen on the prolific player, too, and the former Leeds United trainee may prefer to stay close to his roots.

Though chairman Simon Corney and chief executive Neil Joy are in Portugal at the Football League’s annual summer meeting, Dickov — who is currently working towards UEFA coaching qualifications — is still working hard to bring in fresh faces.

It is hoped James Wesolowski will become the first re-signing of the summer by extending his stay at Boundary Park.

Dickov is also optimistic on chances of retaining the services of forward Robbie Simpson.

ATHLETIC are holding a special season ticket sale on Saturday. From 9am until noon, season tickets will be available for purchase at discounted prices from the Boundary Park office.
