All-star test for Latics

ATHLETIC’S reworked defensive line-up will be tested to the limit tomorrow when a Manchester City side bursting with attacking energy arrives at Boundary Park.
The precise make-up of the Premier League champions’ squad is not yet known, but the indication is that City are likely to put out at least the majority of players who featured in Euro 2012 — plus the £52million forward line of Emmanuel Adebayor and Edin Dzeko.
Mario Balotelli and David Silva were due back in training today after an extended summer break. Both may play a part in the game.
England stars Joe Hart, Joleon Lescott and James Milner could all test Athletic, along with French duo Samir Nasri and Gael Clichy, and Netherlands midfielder Nigel de Jong.
“They are talking about putting a lot of their stars out, so it will be fantastic for the boys,” said Athletic manager Paul Dickov.
“It will also be good for our fans. We will have a good go at them."
