DAN TAYLOR . . . Premier League ambition.
Forward’s first step on the Latics ladder
DAN Taylor would love nothing more than one day to wear the number nine short for Newcastle.
But for now the 19-year-old striker is in position to impress in the same role at Athletic.
The Whitley Bay prospect was snapped up in the summer by Paul Dickov and performed well as a foil for Robbie Simpson against Huddersfield on Saturday.
Taylor's lot may well change soon — a new forward is expected. But for now he is aiming to soak up all the know-how he can to make his game effective.
"It will be a massive learning curve for me, I know that," he said of the prospect of playing in the Football League for the first time.
"Playing reserves football in the Premier League doesn't compare to playing against more experienced players every week.
"I don't have any targets for goals , but I am confident I will score a few."
Taylor was schooled in Newcastle's academy system by Peter Beardsley.
